OGGM Hubs Privacy Statement#

Welcome to the privacy statement for OGGM Hub and OGGM Classroom. This document explains how personal data is processed when you use the OGGM Hubs.
“Personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable person.
Scope#
This Privacy Statement applies to the services:
These services are operated by OGGM e.V., which acts as the Data Controller for personal data processed through the OGGM Hubs.
Technical infrastructure for the hubs is hosted on servers operated by the University of Bremen, which provides infrastructure and system administration.

Intended use#
OGGM Hub and OGGM Classroom are provided for research and teaching purposes related to OGGM.
The hubs are shared computing environments and are not intended for the storage or processing of sensitive or confidential data.
OGGM e.V. reserves the right to suspend or terminate access in cases of misuse or activities that threaten the stability, security, or intended purpose of the service.
Personal data processed#
When using the OGGM Hubs, the following types of personal data may be processed.
Account information#
username
encrypted password
Technical logs#
System logs generated by the hub infrastructure may contain:
IP address
timestamps of user actions
authentication events
system activity related to the operation of the service
These logs are used solely for the operation, maintenance, and security of the service.
Legal basis for processing#
Personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), specifically for:
providing access to the computing service
maintaining system security
detecting misuse or technical problems
operating and improving the infrastructure
Data storage and retention#
User account information is stored for as long as an account remains active.
Users may request deletion of their account at any time by contacting:
System logs that may contain IP addresses are retained for up to 90 days and are automatically deleted thereafter.
User files and data stored within the computing environment remain under the responsibility of the user.
Administrative access#
Administrators of the OGGM Hubs may access system information necessary for operating and maintaining the service. This may include:
viewing which accounts are active
reviewing system logs
accessing user storage when required for technical maintenance or security investigations
Administrative access is limited to operational purposes and is not used for routine monitoring of user activity.
Analytics#
The OGGM Hubs use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service.
Plausible Analytics:
does not use cookies
does not track users across websites
does not collect personally identifiable information
It provides aggregated statistics that help improve documentation and services.

Responsibility for data and backups#
The OGGM Hubs are provided free of charge as a service to the community.
While reasonable efforts are made to maintain the infrastructure, OGGM e.V. cannot guarantee data persistence or service availability.
Users are responsible for maintaining backups of their own work and should not store sensitive or irreplaceable data on the hubs.

Under applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users have rights regarding their personal data, including the right to:
